the roles you play
the lines you deliver
the masks you wear
the moves you make

caring, acting like the mother
reading, acting like the student
working, acting like the teacher
dreaming, acting like the hippie flower
turning off the TV, acting like the lover

the world is a stage
and I am acting out

    I love this! Beautiful. And my favorite line... "turning off the TV, acting like the lover"

    And you have to turn off the TV before you can do any of the others.

    and at night, when alone and the masks are resting, eyes closed, do you like who speaks to you... Gone for a poem this week based on the Etheree form created about twenty years ago by an Arkansas poet named Etheree Taylor Armstrong It normally consists of ten lines of unmetered and unrhymed verse, the first line having one syllable, each succeeding line adding a syllable. I added an extra row for the word count and the punch line. See what I mean here.
